Pune, 23 July 2026

Dr. Vijay K. Mishra, Executive Vice Chairman of the India China Trade Centre (ICTC) – A bilateral Chamber of Commerce, Chairman of the India China Technology Transfer Centre (ICTTC) and the Global Technology Network (GTN), delivered the keynote address at the MBA induction ceremony of Pune Management School, Pimpri Chinchwad University (PCU) on Wednesday.
Speaking to the incoming batch of management students, Dr. Mishra presented a direct and data-driven analysis of China’s transformation from a manufacturing economy into a global technology leader and what that transformation requires of India’s future business professionals.
His address covered the structural drivers behind China’s rise: long-term industrial policy, sustained R&D investment, world-class manufacturing ecosystems, and the integration of government, universities, and private enterprise into a cohesive innovation pipeline. Drawing on case studies from Shenzhen, China’s electric vehicle revolution, and the industrial cluster model, he demonstrated how strategic discipline sustained over decades produces outcomes that short-term thinking never can.

Dr. Mishra argued that India holds the fundamental ingredients for manufacturing leadership, such as a young workforce, a vast domestic market, entrepreneurial energy, and improving policy frameworks through initiatives like the PLI scheme. What India must now build is the supply chain depth, R&D scale, and industry-academia collaboration to convert those advantages into global competitiveness.
“India’s future business leaders must study China’s rise closely and then chart India’s own path to global leadership,” he said.
The session included an active Q&A covering artificial intelligence, electric mobility, supply chain resilience, and India–China economic cooperation. Faculty and students described the address as one of the most practically grounded sessions of the induction programme.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from the university, recognising Dr. Mishra’s contribution to inspiring the next generation of Indian business leaders.
