India China Trade Centre’s (ICTC) Executive Vice Chairman, Mr. Vijay K. Mishra, met with Mr. Guo Ce, Minister for Economic and Commercial Affairs at the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China, to explore new avenues of collaboration and address challenges in bilateral trade and investment.
During the meeting, ICTC outlined its vision to serve as a neutral and credible platform for Chinese enterprises already operating in India, as well as those planning to enter the Indian market. The Centre emphasized its role in helping companies navigate legal, regulatory, and operational complexities, providing support in dispute resolution, and assisting in the development of tailored strategies aimed at ensuring sustainable and long-term growth.
Mr. Mishra highlighted ICTC’s role over the past 25 years in addressing policy bottlenecks, bridging communication gaps, and creating an environment where trade and investment between the two nations can flourish. Our interventions have helped streamline bilateral processes, promote fair market access, and facilitate smoother business operations for enterprises from both sides. He also noted the resilience of India–China trade, which reached USD 138.48 billion in 2024, despite global economic headwinds and geopolitical uncertainties.
Both sides acknowledged that while bilateral trade has expanded, significant challenges remain, including customs valuation disputes, delays in approvals and licensing, regulatory compliance gaps, supply chain disruptions, and limited market access for certain Indian exports to China.
Mr. Mishra further said that ICTC is committed to addressing the real challenges faced by Chinese enterprises already operating in India, as well as those seeking to enter the Indian market, and equally supporting Indian enterprises aiming to expand into the Chinese market or establish joint ventures to set up manufacturing in India. With the Embassy’s support, ICTC aims to foster a more balanced, sustainable, and mutually beneficial economic partnership—facilitating smoother operations, stronger compliance, and deeper trust for businesses on both sides.
Minister Guo expressed appreciation for ICTC’s long-standing contributions and assured the Embassy’s cooperation in strengthening business linkages and fostering a conducive environment for enterprises from both nations.
The meeting marked an important step toward revitalizing India–China economic engagement, with both sides expected to explore follow-up initiatives in the coming months.
